sources of renewable energy generation in Brazil, the present
study focus on the generation of energy through solar irradiation.
In recent years, the technology associated with the generation of
photovoltaic energy has made great advances, enabling greater
efficiency and lower cost. Despite all this evolution of new
equipment, in Brazil the availability of observed data on solar
irradiation for the validation of the generation potential of this
type of energy is very limited. Bearing in mind that for some
regions of the country the Only available are the ones
extrapolated from weather stations in other locations. One of the
approaches of this study is the use of data from meteorological
reanalysis to fill these gaps. The initial focus is on the use of
the second generation of reanalysis MERRA2 (Modern-Era
Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications), the only
reanalysis that considers the assimilation of aerosol, distributed
by NASAs GMAO, for the estimation of solar irradiance in tropical
and subtropical regions of Brazil, according to which they will be
validated with the use of observational data (2001-2019) collected
by INMET (National Institute of Meteorology). The variables
analyzed by MERRA2 are the surface net downward shortwave flux
(SWGNT), considering with and without the inclusion of aerosols
and considering clear sky and all sky. The results point to a high
correlation between the observed data and the variables used to
analyze MERRA-2. A slight underestimation was also observed when
considering all sky for the Caic{\'o} station and a good
approximation considering clear sky and no aerosol compared to the
observed data. For the Campo Grande and Taubate stations the best
results are with all sky estimates from MERRA-2.",
